If you’re anything like us, winter is our perfect excuse to ignore our skin. If we’re not showing it off, then what’s the point, right? (Don’t fret: we haven’t shaved our legs since Halloween either).
Well, we’ve got news – summer is about to happen, like, any minute now. With that, we’ve put together 5 fool-proof steps to help get your skin ready for the rising temps. Just think of it as a head-to-toe to-do list.
First things first, get that bod in the shower along with a packet of Scrub Love. You’re going to want to slough off all those dead skin cells that have been perched on top of your body all winter. Turn the water on, load up your palms with Scrub Love, and get scrubbing, paying extra attention to your elbows, knees and the backs of your arms.
Got some extra time? Leave the scrub on for an extra 10 minutes to get an extra glowing boost.
Don’t forget your chops, either. Use an acid toner on cleansed skin – we love the Pixi Glow Tonic. Acid toners may sound freakin’ weird, but they’re actually way gentler on your face than manual exfoliators, and they do an awesome job at resurfacing, tightening and toning your skin.
It may have been keeping you warm all winter, but now it’s gotta go. Try a shaving oil to get rid of all that unwanted leg hair – the oil will keep your skin feeling super smooth at the same time.
While shaving is great for on the go, waxing is definitely the way forward for long-term results. It’ll mean you won’t have to worry about your legs all summer. Score.
So you’ve stepped out of the shower, you’re feeling reborn now that you’re free of patchy tan and bumpy skin (hallelujah!). Now, it’s all about moisturizing to keep your skin mega soft.
Vaseline’s Spray & Go is perfect if you haven’t got much time in the AM, and we love Palmer’s Cocoa Butter for something a little deeper in the evening.
Now that you’ve got a smooth canvas to work on, applying fake tan will be super easy, and will make you feel way more confident about getting your legs out for the first time since last summer.
Start by dabbing a little extra body lotion on knees, elbows and ankles to keep them from going orange. Use your favourite fake tan and a tanning mit, and work your way from the bottom to the top. Work in a good light too, to make sure you’re getting an even tan – natural sunlight is best.
You’ve probably heard it a million times, but that’s because it works. Chugging down 8 glasses of water a day will not only keep you hydrated on hotter days, but your skin will stay glowing and gorgeous. Too boring? Make your water intake a bit more interesting with a few lemon and lime slices.
